![]() ![]() Personally, I'm of the opinion that Griffiths QM is the best undergrad QM book you'll find, and that most of the criticism comes from people who are very far separated from actually learning QM for the first time, and have forgotten what that's like. ![]() On the other hand, this means that it gets to examining physically interesting problems much sooner than a comparable text that does start from scratch. Griffiths Quantum is somewhat of a contentious book on this sub, and a lot of physics discussion forums - it's considered the standard undergrad QM book by the majority of people, but there's a small but very vocal group that strongly dislikes it.Ĭritics say Griffiths pulls quite a bit of theoretical and mathematical background out of "thin air" and only goes back later to justify things in hindsight, rather than rigorously building up a framework from the beginning. ![]()
